THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
Therapeutic Massage is a manual manipulation of the body’s soft tissue for the purpose of stimulating circulation and promoting relaxation. It has been used in many world cultures for more than 4,000 years. Massage allows you a quiet time to focus on yourself and become more connected to your body, and is generally used for the reduction of stress and pain. It has also been shown to boost the immune system, reduce anxiety, muscle aches and pains, insomnia, and depression and promote sports conditioning. Since most diseases are exacerbated by stress, massage can help you become and stay healthier.
SWEDISH MASSAGE - (RELAXATION MASSAGE)
Swedish Massage is primarily used for relaxation. It consists of circulatory and kneading motions. It is excellent for increasing circulation, relaxing the muscles, calming the mind and reducing stress.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep Tissue work can be one of the most effective techniques for pain relief. This work uses the therapists hands, fingers, thumbs, elbows, forearms and specials tools made from wood and gemstones.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Also known as Myofascial pain syndrome, Trigger Points are hyperirritable spots in the skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. The nodules are small contraction knots and can be the source of great pain. Pressure is applied to these points in the effort to break them up and dissolve them.
ICE MASSAGE – (Cryo Therapy) Ice massage is a little known, but very effective modality that calms Trigger Points and contracted muscles while slightly numbing them, so deeper work can be done with minimal discomfort to the client. It is performed by directly applying ice to the affected area immediately followed by deep tissue or Trigger Point work. This modality is most effective for clients who are in heightened pain and cannot tolerate deep touch.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
Myofascial Release is very slow and focused work. It’s purpose is to relieve aches and pains. Instead of using lotions or oils, the palms and finger tips are used to apply pressure to the affected area. The client will be asked to breath deeply and to move their arm, leg, or head to allow better access to the muscles.
HEATED STONE MASSAGE
The added dimension to a massage from heated stones is almost indescribable. It is THE ultimate in relaxation and deep tissue work!! Heated Stones are placed in key spots on the body, as well as used in the therapist’s hands while giving the massage. The direct heat relaxes the muscles, allowing greater manipulation, as well as expanding the blood vessles, pushing blood and unwanted waste materials through the body. This has a tremendous positive effect on the nervous system. A deep melting sensation permeates through the body as it soaks up the delicious heat, leaving an overwhelming sense of serenity.
REIKI ENERGY
Reiki is a lying on of hands healing system – a simple technique for transferring healing energy from a giver to a receiver. Reiki is the Japanese word for “Universal Life Energy”. This “Universal Life Energy” has many names… Chi to the Chinese, light, or Holy Ghost to the Christians, Prana to the Hindus, and Mana to the Kahunas of Hawaii. Reiki helps release energy blockages in the body and bring balance and healing to the mind, body and spirit. It is non intrusive, relaxing, peaceful, healing and energizing, is completely safe, gentle yet powerful.
ORIENTAL CUPPING
Cupping is an ancient method of applying acupressure by creating a vacuum next to the skin using glass cups. Cupping is an alternative pain therapy recently brought to the media attention by actress Gwyneth Paltrow. While deep tissue massage works by pushing into the muscle, Cupping works by creating suction away from the muscle. It is noninvasive and painless, and a simple, wonderful technique to help soften ropy, knotted muscles, increase circulation, pull toxins out of the body, and promote the free flow of Chi throughout the body. It can be added to any other session when stubborn knots and muscular spasms will only yield to a stronger technique.
CHAKRA BALANCING
The word Chakra comes from the ancient Sanskrit and means “wheel of light”, and refers to vortices of energy located in the human energetic system. They are the repositories of our thoughts, feelings, and attitude about life. The seven major Chakra’s are located along the spine. Each one corresponds to a ductless gland and organs of the body. Under ideal conditions, our Life Force – Chi- flows freely up and down these centers. But “blocks” occur when we suppress or freeze feelings and emotions, compress and compact rage, experience depletion of energy, and participate in denial. When this happens, our physical and mental health is compromised. Balancing the Chakras is very subtle energetic work done by using crystal movement over each of the chakras, essential oils and tuning forks that correspond in color and vibration to each Chakra. This treatment is done with the client being fully clothed and laying down.
EAR CONING
Ear Coning, or Ear Candling is an ancient modality as a remedy for earaches and infections, Candida, Tinnitis, Vertigo, headache, sinus infections, and improving hearing by removing excess wax. It is also a great detoxifier for the lymph system. It is done by setting on fire the large end of the cone and the small end being inserted very gently inside the ear opening. The smoke travels down the cone into to the ear canal forming a vacuum and pulling excess wax, toxins and debris out of the ear and into the cone. |
